This warbler first appeared on paper last year, but it was in 2026 that the piece truly settled into its atmosphere. Rather than adding new detail, I returned to it to warm the tones, soften the light, and allow the bird to feel more present within its surroundings. The elements were already there, what changed was the sense of air, stillness, and place. The work shifted from an observation into a moment that feels quietly inhabited.
Now I feel it is ready to leave the studio and travel outward. I hope it will bring its future owner the same sense of calm attention and warmth that accompanied me while shaping it, a small, intimate fragment of nature held in image.
