Working on this piece brought me a lot of joy, I felt as if I were watching an opera singer mid-performance - the lifted posture, the open beak, the sense of presence.
What fascinates me most about this bird is its stance, full of character and intensity, as well as its colours. The deep blues and warm tones feel almost theatrical, yet completely natural. I built the drawing slowly, layering colour and detail to capture both the softness of the feathers and the strength of the pose.
