What drew me to this subject was the posture, the slight twist of the body and the alert, almost thoughtful expression. I wanted to avoid treating it as a static study and instead capture a sense of presence, as if the moment is still unfolding.
The drawing is built up in multiple layers, with close attention to texture, light, and depth in the fur, creating a sense of softness and realism at the same time.
This piece was created on 600 gsm hot pressed paper, a heavier surface than I usually work on. The strength and stability of the paper made it possible to work with fine detail and subtle tonal transitions with greater control and precision.
