The first time I learned about these stunning, colorful birds was when I moved to Germany, to the picturesque region of Kaiserstuhl. My neighbor, with such excitement in her voice, shared the joyful news: “They’re back!” At that moment, I didn’t realize who they were... until I discovered she was referring to bee-eaters. These vibrant creatures have become regular visitors in the place I now call home. What amazes me even more is that the birds aren’t just a rare sight here; they also live in various parts of Europe, including Poland, where I had lived before and had no idea they existed. It’s a humbling reminder of the wonders we can find, even in places we thought we knew so well.
