about

Anna Bogusz artist at the age of three.

Hello, I’m Anna

An artist born in Poland and based in Germany, in the heart of Europe. My creative practice centres around drawing and painting, but it’s also deeply connected to my passion for nature, poetry and music. Even as a child, I felt drawn to the world around, reaching out to touch and explore it (as seen in the photo here of me at three). Nothing has changed, nature is still my greatest source of peace and inspiration, and I have a particular love for everything earthy, warm, and quietly beautiful.

Background

My professional background is in education. Back in Poland, I worked in this field for several years, and I truly enjoyed my job. The connection with young people brought me a lot of joy and fulfilment. Yet art was always the world I escaped to, the one that helped me process emotions, recharge, and find peace.

Artistic Path

I’ve loved making art for as long as I can remember. And when I didn’t have any proper materials as a child, I would simply use whatever I had on hand, often sneaking my mum’s eyeshadows to create marshy landscapes or eyeliner pencils to sketch.

Later on, in my early teens, pencils became my medium of choice, which is why all my works were in black and white. I especially enjoyed recreating famous oil paintings, for example, The Stolen Kiss by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, a piece I returned to three different times. Below photos of some of these early works.

Art has always been at the centre of my life, and I would seize every free moment to draw, even when balancing a full-time job made it challenging.

2017 was a turning point for me. I decided to quit my job and become a full-time artist to pursue what I truly love. I began with pet portrait commissions, focusing on fur, which was the first theme I wanted to study. The joy of bringing pets to life and sharing that happiness with my clients has been priceless, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have built so many meaningful friendships with people around the world.

New Beginnings

That change wasn’t easy, as it coincided with a major shift in my life, my whole family and I moved from Poland to Germany. Suddenly, everything felt new and unfamiliar. It was a time of transition and rediscovery. My first works during that period focused on exploring a new medium: wax-based coloured pencils.

Media & Exploration

Over time, I began experimenting with various mediums, like soft pastels and oil pastels, but it was the combination of coloured pencils and watercolour that truly found its way to my heart. I’m excited to share my love for nature through my studies, while connecting with new collectors.

Goals & Vision

I still have many creative goals ahead of me. Among them is my long-held dream of working with oil paints. I have an archive full of photographs and memories from plain-air moments that have stayed with me, scenes quietly waiting for their chance to come to life on canvas. I feel that oils will allow me to express their depth and atmosphere in a way no other medium can.

Once, a mother wrote to me and asked what advice I would give to her daughter, who was eager to learn how to draw. It made me realise how important it is for every child, and really for every person, to have the chance to explore different art materials. I never had that opportunity myself, and only now am I able to fulfil those dreams. I truly believe that every artist should have the freedom to explore various media, because each of them reveals something new about us. Even if a certain medium never becomes our favourite, it teaches us about colour, structure, and emotion, and every such experience adds another layer to our artistic voice.

Thanks & Support

Today, I know that none of this would have been possible without the support of my family, as well as the encouragement I’ve received from my audience and collectors. I am deeply, deeply grateful for it all.
