'The Little Explorer' ORIGINAL artwork
This piece captures a moment from everyday life of the Barbary ground squirrel. It was inspired by photographs taken during a recent trip, where these animals were observed moving freely through their environment, completely unbothered by human presence. They play, chase each other, and behave with a surprising sense of ease around people.
What particularly caught my attention was the tail, an extraordinary feature that can suddenly expand and gain volume in an instant, almost like a burst of energy or alertness frozen in time.
